Conventional and Non Conventional Systems

Conventional and addressable (non-conventional) fire alarm panels differ primarily in how they pinpoint fire locations and manage system complexity. Conventional panels use zones, alerting to a general area, while addressable panels identify the exact device (detector or call point) initiating an alarm, providing more precise location and advanced features like pre-alarms.

Conventional Fire Alarm Panels:

Zone-based:

These panels divide a building into zones, and if a fire is detected, the panel indicates which zone is in alarm, not the precise location.

Simpler wiring:

They use radial wiring, with each device (detector, call point, sounder) connected to its own wire, which in turn connects back to the panel.

Less expensive:

Due to their simpler design and wiring, conventional systems are generally less costly to purchase and install, making them suitable for smaller buildings or those with budget constraints.

More prone to false alarms:

These systems may be more susceptible to false alarms due to dust or other contaminants affecting detectors, as the system cannot pinpoint the exact source.

Limited functionality:

They offer basic functionality, such as alerting to a zone alarm, and lack advanced features like pre-alarms or individual device monitoring.

Addressable (Non-Conventional) Fire Alarm Panels:

Precise location:

Each device in the system has a unique address, allowing the panel to pinpoint the exact location of the alarm and provide detailed information about the event, such as which detector was triggered.

Loop wiring:

These systems use a single loop (or ring) of wiring, which connects all devices to the panel, reducing the amount of wiring compared to conventional systems.

More complex and expensive:

Addressable systems are generally more complex, expensive to purchase and install, and require specialized knowledge for installation and maintenance.

Advanced features:

They offer advanced features like pre-alarms (allowing for early warning before a full alarm), adjustable detector sensitivities, and real-time event logs.

Reliable and flexible:

They are generally more reliable and offer greater flexibility for changing or adding devices to the system.

Wireless Fire Alarms

Wireless fire detection technology provides a host of advantages over its more traditional, wired counterpart. It delivers a reliable, easy-to-install, battery-powered solution for temporary or permanent applications that can be deployed very quickly. The very fact that it is wire-free eliminates the need for lengthy cable runs, allowing it to be installed with little to no disruption to property. All this leads to much faster installation time, thus providing significant savings.

  • No Lengthy Cable Runs

  • Faster Installation Time

  • Easy to Install

Extra protection for call points and detectors

Call point protectors and ceiling detectors covers are a great option to add onto your system to prevent vandalism and false alarms.
